MEET THE TRAILBLAZERS
What started with the three founder friends in early 2017 has now grown into a small band of elite and socially committed athletes who train, event and socialize together.
Meet some of the team here.
JOSHUA VINTNER-JACKSON - (FOUNDER)
I have to admit I have never been your natural athlete, but I do consider myself a natural adventurer and now Trailblazers gives me the focus to be totally endurance adventure fit. I have now successfully completed a few Tough Mudders, the Paris Marathon, the Wadi Rum Ultra and a hell of a lot training mileage under my belt. I have always been a person to enjoy being out in the wild and unknown, whether it was on the ascent of Kilimanjaro or survival training in the Malaysian jungle. Its pushing these physical and mental boundaries alongside making a charitable difference in the world which is what being a Trailblazer is all about for me.
HAYDN ELLIOT - (FOUNDER)
Completing the Wadi Rum Ultra was a huge achievement for The Trailblazer’s Club. A challenge of that calibre is a testament in itself. However it’s the positive social impact that this club creates which makes me so proud to be part of it’s creation.
Last year’s challenge pushed me outside my comfort zone and has transformed my perspective on what is possible.
I love setting myself a challenge and to do it alongside such a charismatic and positive group of people makes the whole experience that much more fulfilling.
TOM MOUNTFORD - (FOUNDER)
After completing the Wadi Rum Ultra-marathon in 2017 it is safe to say it changed the way I look at things and want to live my daily life from now on! It gave me such a sense of fulfilment and a hunger to do more.
Having grown up in South Africa I have always understood the struggles that people go through daily and realise there are so many things people take for granted each day. So having the opportunity to help so many young females during 2018’s challenge is going to be so rewarding!
TRAILBLAZER: Marina Ranger
Positivity, ambition, and hard work are my fundamental mottos in life.
I have 19 ultra marathons and a full Ironman under my belt. My greatest achievement is running 500km in 5 days across Holland. In July I’m representing GB in the Long Distance Triathlon World Champs.
I feel privileged to cycle with this amazing group of predominantly males, advocating for a female cause and am determined to make the most out of this journey for the benefit of those less fortunate whilst enjoying a life changing experience.
TRAILBLAZER: Will Hillock
I’m a proud South African with a weakness for adventure, a heart for charity and a passion for cycling. While enjoying many a draught in my local pub / many a draft in Richmond Park, I’ve learn't that London is full of like minded people who see no barriers to putting passion into action - such as The Trailblazers Club. Cycling has taken me to many iconic cols, alps and Tours in Europe but never to unchartered territory, and never for a cause greater than The Cake Stop. This mad peloton will once again smash our fundraising challenge and leave a wake of educated, empowered and happier young women.
TRAILBLAZER: Jamie Sparks
I’m Jamie and I’ve lived In London all my life. I’ve always loved adventure. In 2014 I rowed across the Atlantic Ocean. 6 months later I skippered the first ever unsupported row across the Indian Ocean. I’m a 6 x Guinness world record holder. In 2017 I appeared in BBC2’s special forces ultimate hell week and made it to the final. Adventure for me is all about putting myself in unusual, beautiful and often intimidating environments. If you can travel with a group of like minded people then it’s even better, and that’s what the trailblazers are.
TRAILBLAZER: lauren Morton
I’m a Yorkshire born Adventurer, Ocean Rower and Double Guinness World Record Holder! Adventure and the outdoors is in my DNA and I’m unashamedly passionate for girl’s rights globally.
I’ve collectively spent over 200 days at sea, ran 7 marathons in 7 days, walked across Sri Lanka, spent 6 weeks marooned on a desert island as part of Channel 4’s The Island with Bear Grylls and in 2016 set two World Records becoming the fastest and youngest females to row across any ocean.
I’ve been itching for another adventure so I’m excited to get stuck into the Ride For Harmony. This challenge will be one hell’ova physical and mental test but it’s the people that you embark on these journeys with that makes the ride worthwhile and the Trailblazers Club is undoubtedly one badass team .
TRAILBLAZER: Lucy Sacarello
As the ultra-running physio, I witnessed the mental and physical battles first hand. Despite or because of this I was hugely inspired.
I've done various athletic endeavours but this one stands out for the cause, and although we will be tested, knowing our positive impact gives some perspective.
I've always been sport-obsessed and predominantly channelled this into team sports. I’m excited to step out of my comfort zone, take on this personal challenge, but most of all; be one member of the Trailblazer team.
